Royal Caribbean International has officially revealed the name of its fourth Icon Class ship: Hero of the Seas, set to debut in August 2027 with sailings from Miami.
The announcement, made on March 30, 2026, confirms that bookings for Hero of the Seas will open first to Crown & Anchor Society members on April 1, before becoming available to the general public on April 2.
Bookings and Deployment Details
Hero of the Seas will homeport in Miami and sail 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries beginning in August 2027. Each sailing will include a visit to Royal Caribbean’s private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay, one of the line’s most in-demand ports of call.
With demand continuing to surge for Icon Class ships, these early booking windows are expected to fill quickly, particularly for inaugural sailings.
What to Expect Onboard Hero of the Seas
As part of the Icon Class, the largest cruise ships in the world, Hero of the Seas will build on the features introduced by its sister ships while adding new experiences.
Among the highlights:
- Nine pools, the most of any cruise ship
- The largest swim-up bar at sea, located in the adults-only Hideaway
- The largest waterpark at sea, including the first-ever funnel raft waterslide on a cruise ship
These additions continue Royal Caribbean’s focus on high-capacity, activity-driven ships designed to appeal to families and multi-generational travelers.

Dining: New Concepts and Returning Favorites
Dining will play a major role onboard, with 28 total venues available to guests.
Fan-favorite options will return, including:
- Sorrento’s (pizza)
- El Loco Fresh (Mexican)
- Basecamp (casual bites and burgers)
New dining experiences planned for Hero of the Seas include:
- A hands-on cooking class venue (name to be announced)
- Royal Railway – Hero Station, an immersive dining experience
- The Orleans Parish Supper Club, featuring Creole and Cajun-inspired cuisine
These additions reflect Royal Caribbean’s continued push toward experiential dining at sea.
New Ultimate Family Treehouse Suite
On the accommodations side, Hero of the Seas will introduce an enhanced version of its most over-the-top suite concept: the Ultimate Family Treehouse.
This multi-level suite will feature:
- A three-deck layout
- Private rooftop terrace with whirlpool
- A two-level teen space
- Two main bedrooms, each with a private bathroom and balcony
The suite builds on the growing demand for ultra-premium, family-focused accommodations within the cruise industry.

A Continued Evolution of the Icon Class
With Hero of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International continues to expand its groundbreaking Icon Class, which has redefined the scale and experience of modern cruising.
As the fourth ship in the class, Hero of the Seas is expected to push that evolution even further—combining record-breaking attractions, expanded dining, and high-end accommodations into one of the most anticipated cruise launches of 2027.
Bottom Line
Hero of the Seas is shaping up to be another major addition to Royal Caribbean’s lineup, with bookings opening this week and strong demand expected from day one.
Cruisers interested in securing early sailings should be prepared to book as soon as reservations open.
